What a month it has been! The high holidays were packed with non stop action. Beginning with Rosh Hashana all the way through Simchat Torah it was incredible. We were able to provide the full range of Young Jewish experiences from the social to the cullinary to the religious. So many have walked in through our doors with tons of new faces. In fact, we had over 250 different young Jewish adults experiencing the events, many of them multiple times! If you were not able to make it to anything, there are plenty of things going on through out the year! Thank you all for your continued support and input. Monday night course

Last session we discussed why God created the world. We closely examined the kabalistic approach of Rabbi Chaim Luzzato whose explanation suggests that God “needed” to create the world to actualize His essence of goodness. Today we will examine an approach which may be interpreted as objecting to the implication that God created from need. We will then go on to discuss why worship of other “gods” is forbidden by the Torah and why God is referred to as a “jealous God.”

Join us, even if you have not come before, for a profoundly interesting and deeply moving analysis of the fundamental beliefs of Judaism. 7:30PM at The Intown Chabad

Welcome home a hero- November 13th 12-4PM Check out who is coming and RSVP to join here At least one flight arrives at DFW airport daily bringing 150-250 U.S. soldiers home from deployment overseas, and since 2004, citizens have been allowed to come into the airport to greet the flights as part of a “Welcome Home a Hero” program. The Intown Chabad is organizing a group who will greet and show appreciation to our returning soldiers on Sunday, November 13th. Because the arrivals aren’t on regular commercial flights, we can’t be sure of the exact time we’ll need to be at the airport until the evening before we go. Lately, it appears that flights generally arrive around 12:30 PM (but it’s possible that we may have to be at the airport as early as 8:00 AM). Please expect to dedicate up to 4 hours if you can participate (leaving Dallas an hour before the scheduled arrival + two hours at the airport + the drive home). We hope to carpool from the Intown Chabad, but will also set up a meeting point in North Dallas if there are enough people leaving from there. Invite anyone who’d like to join! Topic: Ushpizin Film Screening.
I find this to be one of the best films I Have seen. It tells a tale of a bunch of misshaps with this one Jerusalem family. Interstingly, the main actor was a huge film star in Israel, he then became religious and stopped acting. He only agreed to do this film when they said his real wife could be his wife in the film.

Although is past the deadline for ordering ARBA MINIM (four species, better-known as Lulav and Etrog) for Sukkot from the distributor, we atIntown Chabad have been given SPECIAL CONSIDERATION in honor of our burgeoning Downtown (Uptown? Intown?) Dallas Jewish Community, and due to our support of Rabbi Drizin and Intown Chabad. Therefore, we will be able to get lulavim and etrogim, but they MUST BE ORDERED BEFORE TOMORROW MORNING!
It is a very important mitzvah to take and shake your own lulav. Why? That’s why we pay our Rabbi- to answer such important questions.

Dear Friends,

This year has brought about a lot of change in the world, from the unrest in the middle east, to the death of Osama bin Laden and the fluctuation in the economy. The excitement of the world champion Dallas Mavericks and almost world champion Texas Rangers. This year has been filled with ups and downs, good and bad.
In our personal realm, our ups and downs may have mirrored those of the world we live in, but unlike the larger world around us where we may not have that much influence, in our own world we can really make a difference!

My wish for you this year is that it should be filled with revealed blessing, that you find the truth you seek, the partnership you desire, the strength to conquer your own hurdles, the love to fill your soul and share with those around you, the knowledge to choose the right path and the wisdom to embrace your choices.

On a daily basis, the choices you make, the interactions you have, the gifts you give, the love you share, they make a difference everyday to those around you and to the world at large. I am thankful that you have chosen to share part of yourself with me.

Film and Lamentations—-God on trial
The 9th of AV is one of the saddest days on the Jewish calendar. We commemorate many tragedy’s amongst them the destruction of Jerusalem and our 2 temples. Traditionally we fast for 26 hours and read lamentations.
At The Intown Chabad we will be showing an intensely provocative film together with The Tycher Library. God on Trial deals with some of the most fundamental questions to God. The film is set in Auschawitz as the Jewish inmates struggle with the meaning of their suffering.

First we all meet for a happy hour followed by Services at The Intown Chabad, then we all break up into different homes in groups of 10-20 for a great ol’ Shabbat dinner.

Volunteer Oportunities! Yeah, we got ‘em!
August 28 – Sunday throughout the day.
The J is hosting the 13th Jewish Arts Fest at the beautiful Meyerson in the heart of downtown Dallas. They are asking for volunteers to sign up for 2 hour shifts and the rest of the day is your to enjoy for FREE. Email ArtsFestDallas@jccdallas.org today or check out the website for more information or the volunteer form.

And if you have a creative side and don’t mind taking risks, then email either Anna or Zvi to help out at The Intown Chabad booth. No worries, we’ll keep it fun… but we’ll also keep itinteresting.

Meet Anna Aharony: The NEW Director of Operations for The Intown Chabad.

Hi! My name is Anna Aharony and I am The Intown Chabad’s new Director of Operations… basically I’ve been hired by Zvi to do all the stuff he doesn’t want to do! and direct awesome energy in your direction!
I have to say I’m excited to be a part of the such a wonderful and rapidly growing group of young adults in Dallas. I look forward to getting to know all of you If anyone needs anything from The Intown Chabad, Zvi or myself, please don’t hesitate to email me atAnna@theintownchabad.com

While I’m at introductions, I should probably tell you a little bit about myself and how I came to work at Intown.
I was born in Russia, but at the age of 4 my family decided to peace out of there for more opportunities in AMERICA. So we moved to Delaware. I have no idea how they even heard of small Delaware or thought that would be the place in ALL of the US to strike gold, but that’s where I ended up spending my childhood. Shortly after completing college at The University of Delaware, my husband, Mickey Aharony and I moved to Philadelphia to explore the city and…. well, to just get out of Delaware! Fast forward six months, and we decided try our luck in Dallas. Now here I am as director of overall awesomeness at The Intown Chabad and I couln’t be more excited!
