You would not believe your eyes,

But one drop of oil slight,

Lit up the world many years ago.

Cause Chanukah’s in the air,

And all the Jews everywhere,

Light their menorahs as

We just stand and stare.

Chanukah can make the world believe,

That planet Earth turns slowly.

It’s clear to see that in

The bright glow of this menorah light,

That we are not so different it seems.

Cause I see a thousand sparks,

From eight candles in the dark,

As they try to teach me how to share.

Dad gives me some chocolate gelt,

Try hard not to let it melt,

The dreidel spins on Jews’ tables everywhere.

Chanukah can make the world believe

That planet Earth turns slowly.

It’s clear to see that in

The bright glow of this menorah light,

That we are not so different it seems.

Leave windows open just a crack.

The candles shine ‘round the cul-de-sac.

I’ll never tire of Mom’s latkes.

I’ll dream of them when I fall asleep.

Candles like fireflies.

They flicker before my eyes.

Burn slowly down as they say farewell.

But I know where several are,

Cause tomorrow’s not that far,

A Chanukah prayer,

Beats just wishing on a star.
