Course Overview

Money Matters will present Judaism’s approach to practical economic dilemmas and monetary quandaries that we face daily in both our personal and professional lives.

The goal of this course is to provide a sensitive, fair, and unshakable economic paradigm grounded in 3,000 years of tradition and practical experience—an ancient yet fresh spin on how we view ethics of money.

Students will emerge from this course with an understanding that only a divine economic system can ensure unequivocal justice while recognizing the virtue in each stakeholder’s position. Money Matters will show how the Torah’s sharply discerning yet holistic rulings inspire us with the confidence to confront any ethical economic dilemma.

BIO

RABBI SHAIS TAUB is a teacher and author known for his scholarship in Chassidic mysticism. He is on the editorial staff of the Judaism sites Chabad.org and Jewish.TV and is also a frequent contributor at the Huffington Post.

NPR called him “an expert in Jewish mysticism and the 12 Steps” and Publishers Weekly praised his bestseller G-d of Our Understanding as a “singular resource for those in need.” He currently directs Conscious Contact, a program providing meetings for Jewish prayer, meditation and study at the Aleph Institute in Pittsburgh, PA where he lives with his wife and children.

We’re going to give this another try!

The Intown Chabad is organizing a group who will greet and show appreciation to our returning soldiers on Sunday, February 12th. Because the arrivals aren’t on regular commercial flights, we can’t be sure of the exact time we’ll need to be at the airport until the evening before we go. Estimated February arrival times have not yet been provided, but we’ll update this page as soon as they are.

Please expect to dedicate up to 4 hours if you can participate (leaving Dallas an hour before the scheduled arrival + two hours at the airport + the drive home).

Invite anyone who’d like to join! Please make sure to RSVP, though, so we can provide the airport with a correct count in advance.

At least one flight arrives at DFW airport daily bringing 150-250 U.S. soldiers home from deployment overseas, and since 2004, citizens have been allowed to come into the airport to greet the flights as part of a “Welcome Home a Hero” program
